Alex Fraser

Google Earth Model 2009

One of the most iconic bridges in the Metro Vancouver area, the Alex Fraser Bridge has always had a special place in my heart - and it helps that I get to go over it almost everytime I go anywhere. The best part is that I still get excited when I see it! I mean how could someone NOT love that bridge?

Station Tower

Google Earth Model 2009

As part of an ongoing project to see the area of downtown Surrey / Whalley built in Google Earth, I got set to work modelling a number of the older towers in the area. Station Tower, by MCM Partnership, was a difficult project due to the detail in the curtain walls and window glazing.

Whispers

Interactive Art Project 2006

Whispers from the Past was an interactive art installation created by myself and my teammate, Jonas Olson. Our intent was to produce an immersive, relaxing environment through a system of simple inputs and outputs, attached to a plain old wooden chair. We accomplished this by programming and utilizing the Arduino board, developed by Massimo Banzi and his team, which allowed us to hide all the required components under the seat of the chair. To activate the sound, a user simply needed to sit down, thereby adding weight to a pressure sensor. Watch the video to see it in action!

RemindMe

Participatory Design Study 2006

RemindMe is a personal memory-aid. It was conceptualized through a 13-week process focused on learning and putting into use, methods of participatory design. My team of 3 distributed cultural probes, held participatory design workshops, and created personas, journey frameworks, video informances, and video scenarios, before resulting in a defined product prototype/concept. The ultimate goal of the project was to create "a product for the home".

Amdirosa

design process study 2006

For this 2-week project, my team of 4 was required to select from a short list of precedents, one brand to research, learn from, and create a proposal for a new product. Emphasis was put on "show, don't tell" presentation skills, so for the final week we created a short film and series of schematic diagrams to create as realistic a product as possible. It was well-received.
