Alex Fraser

Google Earth Model 2009

One of the most iconic bridges in the Metro Vancouver area, the Alex Fraser Bridge has always had a special place in my heart - and it helps that I get to go over it almost everytime I go anywhere. The best part is that I still get excited when I see it! I mean how could someone NOT love that bridge?

Designed by Buckland & Taylor and completed in 1986, the Alex Fraser Bridge spans the South Arm of the Fraser River, carrying HWY 91 to connect the communities of Delta and Richmond. It was the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world until 1991, when the Skarnsund Bridge was completed in Norway. I have not yet added the approach supports to this model, and may not add them for the sake of simplicity.
