Amdirosa

design process study 2006

For this 2-week project, my team of 4 was required to select from a short list of precedents, one brand to research, learn from, and create a proposal for a new product. Emphasis was put on "show, don't tell" presentation skills, so for the final week we created a short film and series of schematic diagrams to create as realistic a product as possible. It was well-received.

processing

In addition to directing, shooting, and editing the clip above, I designed these slides as part of our process presentation. The brand we selected to emulate was Italian-based, Danese Milano, and the concept was to create a beautiful, and usable table centerpiece with oil and vinegar bottles, a salt shaker and pepper grinder, and a cheese grater. We were inspired by the form of downtown cityscapes, and conceptualized a unique mechanical re-filling system for the oil and vinegar.

final schematic

After prototyping our product a number of times, we created a semi-final form using liquid plastics and papier-mâché. The name, Amdirosa, was created by combining the names of the team members (Amir, Diana, Robert, and Sara). We liked it, because it had a slightly exotic, high-quality feel to it, which corresponded well with our target audience. I created and designed the following schematic diagrams.
