CINI 2010

conference logo design 2009

I was contacted by the Director of the SFU Surrey Campus to come up with a logo for the inaugural 2010 Canada-India Networking Initiative on Cardiovascular Health conference. The organizers wanted something with a heart, 2 hands shaking, and the flags of Canada and India. I got set to work sketching out some possible ideas on that theme, and we narrowed it down to one, which I then vectorized and coloured. The organizers were thrilled with the logo, one of them exclaiming to my point of contact, "EXCELLENT!!!!!!!! Congratulations to your designer. It looks great!!!!".

Cohort Model

Information Model 2006

Upon reading David K Foot's Boom, Bust & Echo 2000, my team was assigned the task of modeling the concepts in an easy-to-understand, visual format. Because the book focused primarily on Canadian demographics and how we can use them to study the past, and make predictions for the future, I decided a simple, photo-heavy 'trend board' approach would work quite well. It would provide information on the styles and trends of the time, whether product, fashion, or otherwise, as well as significant events, and the size and 'level of opportunity' for each cohort. I'm pretty pleased with the final result!

Tiffany & Dillon

wedding invitations 2009

Set with the task of shooting a series of engagement photos and creating photo-centric wedding invitations, I was able to design magazine spread-inspired, bi-fold (tri-panel) cards to match the 'rustic, country wedding' theme (centering around brown, raspberry, and turquoise), as well as a simple, 'country lace' RSVP site.

Subcultures

information models 2006

Before taking on design projects of our own, the professor wanted to ensure we understood some key design knowledge. In the first weeks, we studied and modeled Drucker's "Post-Capitalist Society" followed by Foot's "Bust, Boom, and Echo 2000". After this, we combined the knowledge from both of those books, with the concepts laid out in Hebdige's "Subcultures" and created the information models below to convey the concepts in a clear, visual way.
